Title: Community Shows Their True Colors
Post by: Meowz on October 12, 2017, 12:19:49 PM
Recently several of my friends who are backers of SC had their homes burn down in the northern CA fires. I set up a GoFundMe to aid them. I knew it was a long shot, but decided to post on the SC Reddit asking for aid, since many of them seem to have so much disposable income. My friends are still faithful backers, but completely lost everything. As a horrible refundee I deleted my post history so they would focus on the post instead of who was posting it.

While I was hesitate to make the post, I was not prepared for the sheer vile response I received. One guy in particular put on his "detective" hat to uncover my post history. I got accused of being a scammer and basically how dare I show my face. The comments are depressing, but show what this community has really become, even when it comes to supporting their own if brought up by a now "outcast". I feel like if this happened to a shill like BoardGamer they would rush to his aid. I deleted the post since it was obviously pointless, but the comments and link should all be there. This whole thing has left me speechless, but I also feel like I shouldn't even be surprised... That'll will teach me.

I'm glad you didn't state that Chris' house had burned down. That would have raised enough money within 24 hours to see Star Citizen actually make it into a full game.

Not surprising at all. I guess you weren't around when they were hating on some guy with cancer and who was doing a YouTube video about issues with the game?

Sorry to hear about your friends.

Dude post over to /r/StarCitizenRefunds, I guarantee you'll raise more and it will be hilarious considering how much smaller the sub is.
